Hillbrook Farm

My father, a local Busselton GP, fell in love with Hillbrook Farm when driving from Busselton to surfing in Yallingup. He would drive along Abbeys Farm Road just to look at the property.

Encouraged by other Busselton doctors in his practice, Kevin Cullen (Cullen Wines), Mike Peterkin (Pierro Wines) and Bill Pannell (Moss Wood & Picardy), my parents purchased the property in 1978 -  we had no farming experience at that time.

One of the most picturesque properties in the Yallingup escarpment, Hillbrook Farm totals 260 acres. Bounded by national park on two sides, Hillbrook Farm encompasses 100 acres of native woodland, rolling pastures, ocean views and predominately north facing slopes.

For The Birds Yallingup

In 1984, my parents commissioned a local architect to design our family home to be located at the highest point of Hillbrook Farm. The remit was to design a functional house that maximised the 360-degree views of ocean, valleys & national park. The plan incorporated separate wings for parents and children, three spacious living areas and views from every room.

Completed in in 1986, the house was named For The Birds, due to the abundant bird life surrounding it, the number of girlfriends my brother attracted, and ‘up in the air issues’ of an architecturally challenging roof. The house was permanently occupied by the family until 2013.  At this time, my twin sister and I, Lisa and Joanna Boston, took over the ownership and management of the house and Hillbrook Farm.

Since 2013 For The Birds Yallingup has undergone extensive renovation to the house and garden.  Upgraded with all 21st century amenities, For The Birds Yallingup is a second home to our families and the guests we host.
